
Four hundred scientists and experts of all kinds, twenty companies and universities, 141 billion dollars: a gigantic effort, which culminated in the words of Neil Armstrong, when he set the foot on the lunar dust, "a small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." It was 22:56, 20 July 1969 (4.56 to 21 in Italy). Armstrong, who has always rejected the role of stars and even today, at age 78, lives retired without giving interviews, he admitted a few days later that the sentence does not simple, but effective if it was prepared: "I was spontaneous - he always maintained - when I saw the imprint of my boot in the dust. "Five hundred million people worldwide live on television followed the movements of space explorers. Another 500 million followed on the radio.
